Make a difference by donating to the 2017 Annual Appeal today!
As Executive Director of the Foggy Bottom West End Village, I want to personally thank you for your continued generous support of our mission to help seniors comfortably age and remain active in the community for many years to come.
In prior years, we have asked you to support us in our efforts to subsidize Reduced Fee Memberships that remove barriers for lower-income residents to be a part of the Village. Thanks to you, our financial goal has been met.
For this year-end appeal, I am requesting your help on two specific items that contribute greatly to our members’ quality of life:
- Rent for our Village “home” including space for senior social, educational, cultural, and health/wellness programs
- Funding to continue research efforts on ways to reduce social isolation and loneliness.
The Village opened its doors in 2013 and now has 145 members with more than 60 volunteers. We are a self-supporting organization receiving limited funding from the District of Columbia and no level of federal government funding. Your gift is critical.
We have also sent this request to Village members and friends by US Mail.
In 2013, we received a grant that allowed us to rent office and facilities space at St. Paul’s Parish, an ideal location that our members easily walk to for participation in Village activities and volunteer opportunities.
In 2017, our Village received a grant from the DC Office on Aging to identify and develop ways to mitigate social isolation among seniors. We have developed and tested several strategies; however, funding is needed to expand and strengthen our programming and services. This is important because social isolation often leads to rapid decline in the health and well-being among members, and mitigating this is what our Village is all about.
You know the importance of strong community ties that reduce social isolation and the value of our Village having a convenient and easily accessible gathering place for programs and classes. I now invite you to support the Foggy Bottom West End Village by making a gift in 2017 – helping us truly make a difference.
The Village is an IRS designated 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent provided by law. Donors will be gratefully acknowledged in the Village newsletter, website, and annual report unless they choose to be anonymous.
Donate by credit card here or make out a check to Foggy Bottom West End Village, Inc., marked in the memo line for the 2108 Annual Appeal, and mailed to FBWE Village, 2430 K St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20037.
We suggest a donation of at least $100, but any amount is welcome.

Why we need donations
To ensure there’s a Village for you and your neighbors when you need us, please support us today.
Membership dues only cover about 30-40 per cent of all costs of running a Village, so we need additional financial support to ensure that the Village is sustainable for the long term.
There are many costs involved including staff salary and payroll taxes; rent; supplies; utilities; insurance; computer support; accounting, legal and licensing fees, and communications and marketing materials. These costs are necessary for us to deliver quality services and programs to our members.
We successfully seek government and foundation grants, but these generally do not cover the core costs of operating the Village.
So we need your donation -- large or small -- to keep us in the black.
Your donations are tax-deductible
FBWE Village is an IRS-designated 501(c)(3) charitable organization; therefore, all donations are tax-deductible to the full extent provided by law.
All donations acknowledged
You will receive a written acknowledgement of your gift that will be your record for tax purposes.
All donors publicly recognized (if desired)
